I posted about this medication in MWO but drew some criticism by people saying the drug was not suitable for alcoholics.  It works via the same alpha(2)delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the brain as gabapentin, so should be appropriate in alcoholism if gabapentin is.  It is about 6 times as potent as gabapentin (in milligrams) and reaches peak levels in about 1 and a half hours, versus 3 hours or so for gabapentin.  The following is an article summarising evidence for its use in alcohol dependence:

If Campral works on the voltage gated calcium channel I see no reason why we should not talk about any substance unless it is addictive or permanently damaging.  Thanks for the doc.
