Getting off Bac - need advice

Hi Guys, I'm new here, but certainly not new to the trials and tribulations of alcoholism and addiction. I'm in my mid 40's, and went through the wringer during my teens, twenties and thirties with a dreadful opiate, methadone, subutex habit while drinking at the same time throughout.  Saying that, I had 6 years of total abstinence from everything from 07 to 13 Then I picked up H again for about a year and did an Ibogaine treatment, which for lack of a better word, 'cured' my opiate addiction. Not a craving since - knock on wood. Then I started drinking again, not too heavily, but quite steadily to the point I felt I needed it to, to socialise, relax, sleep, and generally not feel shitty. You guys know the story. Anyway, about a year ago I started on baclofen after reading The End of my Addiction. I worked my way up to 160mg/day and my drinking subsided considerably, with even a few weeks here and there not drinking at all. However, my motivation in all areas, especially exercise and work has gone, and I still feel crippling anxiety from time to time. I feel like I fake my way through the day, smiling when I have to, ticking the boxes, but just barely. Life just kinda sucks and I know I can do better. To be honest, I want to get off the bac completely because I do feel it's messing with my natural zest for life, libido too. I haven't found too much online re tapering down to zero, only horror stories of bac pumps failing, seizures etc. You've all probably read them all too. Anyway, I want to plan a tapering down schedule and make this happen, but I'm not sure how fast to drop. You can probably tell I'm self medicating since for the most part docs have always let me down, and sometimes exacerbated problems, or simply not cared what I thought and felt. So, my question is - How long on average do you think it will take me to hit zero from 160mg if there are no hiccups, benders, and meltdowns along the way? I'm hoping I can do it within 1.5-2 months. Does this sound reasonable? Thanks

Hi Dave. I am currently tapering down to zero. I've taken longer than I was planning. Stopping several times for a few weeks. The quickest I've been able to tolerate going down is 10 mg every 3 to 4 days. I do get hit intermittently with pretty bad anxiety and/or depression. When that happens, I'll bump back up on the 10 mg for a few days until the symptom subsides and then continue down. I'm currently on 30 mg and will go down 10 mg a week now until I hit zero.  I started titrating down from 120mg. I'm doing it because of a pretty severe nerve pain side effect in my legs, and also trying to figure out if the baclofen is contributing to a back problem. Fun times. I'm still drinking. I go for months not, but then do again. I plan to be off the baclofen for several months and evaluate it all before deciding what to do next.

I have gone down to zero twice and it only took me about 2 weeks but it only took me just over 2 weeks each time to reach indifference as well. But I think that is very unusual.Im currently titrating up for the third time
